At Google, we adhere to a fundamental principle: "Focus on the user and all else will follow." User Experience Researchers (UXRs) are essential in realizing this vision. The Google User Experience (UX) team consists of diverse professionals including UX Designers, Researchers, Writers, Content Strategists, Program Managers, and Developers, all dedicated to understanding and enhancing the user experience. Our UX team plays a crucial role in gathering insights regarding the needs, attitudes, emotions, and behaviors of users, which informs and inspires our design processes. We collaborate closely with engineering and product management to develop industry-leading products that provide value to users and support Google's business objectives.

As a User Experience Research Specialist (UXR), you will assist your team of UX professionals, product managers, and developers in comprehending user needs. You will engage with stakeholders across various functions and levels, making a significant impact throughout the product development lifecycle. Your role will be vital in creating products that are not only useful and usable but also delightful. You will investigate user behaviors and motivations through primary research methods such as field studies, interviews, diary studies, participatory workshops, ethnography, surveys, usability testing, and log analysis.

The UXR community at Google is distinctive and is designed to help you excel in your work. You will have the chance to collaborate with and learn from UXRs across the organization through regular meetups, mentorship programs, and access to internal research tools.

Your projects will focus on enhancing the experience for Chrome and iOS users.

Chrome OS aims to deliver quality computing at scale, ensuring universal and unrestricted access to information, entertainment, and tools. Our mission is to empower individuals to create and access information freely through fast, secure, simple, and intelligent computing.

Responsibilities:

  1. Assist in planning and executing various research studies, including interviews, surveys, usability testing, and field research.
  2. Synthesize and analyze both qualitative and quantitative data to extract key findings and insights.
  3. Collaborate with designers, product managers, and developers to translate research findings into actionable recommendations.
  4. Communicate research outcomes through presentations, reports, and workshops.
  5. Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders across the organization to advocate for the user's perspective.
