Job Title: Clinical Lead Social Worker

This advanced clinical lead position provides leadership to staff in delivering safe, quality social work services within the healthcare setting. The successful candidate will provide coaching, mentoring, and supervising social work staff and students within designated areas, leading in planning and development of service delivery along with management. They will also provide leadership in legislation, regulation, and policy within the program area and communicate clinical program issues and staff support needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide advanced clinical services in areas of complexity, including decision-making capacity.
  • Work closely with the Social Work Manager to provide consistent social work services across the South Zone.
  • Perform either advanced-level assessment and treatment or act as a clinical lead.
  • Work with or within teams to provide healthcare services for patients with complex and multidimensional medical, psychosocial, environmental, and instrumental needs.
  • Provide consultation to the interprofessional team and patients/families and supervision of students and team members as assigned.
  • Act as a clinical lead providing leadership in the planning, development, and delivery of services in a specific area, as well as staff development, quality improvement, and evaluation or research activities as identified by the needs of the service area(s).
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in Social Work.
  • Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW).
  • 5 years' experience as a professional social worker is required.
  • Previous leadership experience in social work practice and providing supervision is required.
  • Current BLS/First Aid is required.
  • Previous experience in Geriatric Screening and Assessment is required.
  • Knowledge of and proficiency to use electronic medical records (EMR) is required. Preferably Connect Care/EPIC; however, consideration will be given for experience with other EMR systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 3 years previous experience in healthcare social work is preferred.
  • Experience working in acute care and home care settings is preferred.
  • Knowledge and awareness of local, provincial, and federal programs accessed in healthcare is essential.
