Position Overview

AECOM is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer with a strong background in geotechnical earthquake engineering and seismic hazard analysis. This role is based in Burnaby, BC and requires a deep understanding of liquefaction analysis and dynamic analysis.

The ideal candidate will possess significant experience in the design and execution of both shallow and deep foundations, retaining structures, and various infrastructure projects including railways, highways, and airports. The successful applicant will play a pivotal role in enhancing our geotechnical practice across Canada.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams throughout the project lifecycle, from initial concept to final design.
  • Oversee project management to ensure timely completion and adherence to budgetary constraints.
  • Lead and mentor junior engineers and technicians, fostering their professional development.
  • Address complex geotechnical challenges with innovative solutions.
  • Prepare and review comprehensive geotechnical reports and proposals for significant projects.
  • Contribute to the advancement of earth science through technical papers and presentations.
  • Ensure quality control throughout project phases and implement enhancements as necessary.
  • Compile project summary reports and manage claims related to unforeseen ground conditions.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, promoting business growth.
  • Act as a technical mentor and role model within the team.
  • Travel across Canada as required for project needs.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering.
  • A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in geotechnical and geological engineering.
  • Eligibility for P. Eng. registration in Canada within one year.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's or Ph.D. in Geotechnical Engineering from a recognized institution.
  • 12+ years of progressive experience in complex multidisciplinary projects.
  • Proficient in software such as FLAC, PLAXIS, and DEEPSOIL.
  • Strong background in client relations and business development.
  • In-depth knowledge of finite element theory and advanced geotechnics.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems proactively and maintain organization in dynamic environments.
