AECOM is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer who possesses substantial expertise in geotechnical earthquake engineering, probabilistic seismic hazard analysis, liquefaction assessment, and dynamic analysis. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in the design and construction of various foundational systems, retaining structures, embankments, and transportation infrastructures.
This role offers the opportunity to engage in significant projects across transportation, water resources, marine, and civil infrastructure sectors. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in enhancing our geotechnical practice across Canada.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams of engineers and designers from initial concept through to final design.
- Oversee project management to ensure timely completion and adherence to financial objectives.
- Supervise and mentor junior engineers and technicians.
- Address complex geotechnical challenges effectively.
- Draft, compile, and review comprehensive geotechnical reports and proposals.
- Prepare and deliver technical presentations, contributing to the advancement of geotechnical science.
- Ensure quality control throughout project phases and implement necessary improvements.
- Compile project summary reports and manage claims related to subsurface conditions.
- Foster long-term client relationships and encourage knowledge sharing within the team.
- Travel as necessary for project requirements.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering.
- A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in geotechnical and geological engineering.
- Eligibility for P. Eng. registration in Canada within one year.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's or Ph.D. in Geotechnical Engineering from a recognized institution.
- 12+ years of progressive experience in complex multidisciplinary geotechnical projects.
- Proficient in software such as FLAC, PLAXIS, and DEEPSOIL.
- Strong client service and business development skills.
- In-depth understanding of finite element theory related to soil and rock mechanics.
- Familiarity with advanced constitutive models for both linear and nonlinear materials.
- Advanced knowledge of seepage and consolidation models.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.
- Demonstrated problem-solving capabilities and adaptability in a dynamic environment.
- Experience with field investigation techniques and laboratory testing.
