We are currently seeking a meticulous, analytical, and professional Electrical Cost Estimator to join our team.

Role Overview: Reporting to the Estimating Manager, the Electrical Cost Estimator will oversee the pre-construction phase of electrical projects, which includes pricing, administration, negotiation, and analysis throughout various construction stages.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Analyze bid packages to identify necessary resources for completing requests for quotations.
  2. Coordinate estimates among involved trades, ensuring comprehensive tender scope coverage in a cost-effective manner.
  3. Review bid documents to determine required subcontractor involvement for bid completion.
  4. Prepare detailed bid packages and scopes of work for relevant trades and subcontractors to assist in their quotation preparations.
  5. Compile pricing information.
  6. Evaluate costs associated with rentals, tools, equipment, and non-productive labor, determining average labor rates.
  7. Coordinate tender proposal requirements, including:
    1. Reviewing terms and conditions.
    2. Assessing bonding and insurance needs.
    3. Organizing tender breakdowns.
    4. Creating organization charts and resumes.
    5. Documenting company experience.
    6. Calculating craft rates and mark-ups for additional work.
    7. Drafting preliminary schedules.
    8. Formulating execution plans.
  8. Review estimates with the Estimating Manager before submission, focusing on:
    1. Labor efficiencies and productivity issues.
    2. Indirect labor needs.
    3. Construction equipment requirements.
    4. Overhead and profit margins.
  9. Prepare material takeoffs.
  10. Engage in post-tender activities, such as:
    1. Coordinating sales efforts and follow-ups.
    2. Conducting tender review meetings.
    3. Negotiating tenders.
    4. Initiating project activities.
    5. Attending kickoff meetings as necessary.
  11. Stay informed about current market conditions impacting construction costs.
  12. Maintain knowledge of contract laws, material specifications, scheduling, and regional labor supply variations.
  13. Ensure that responsibilities are executed safely, adhering to ESFL's safety policies and OHSAS 18001 standards.
  14. Comply with environmental responsibilities as per ISO 14001 requirements.

Key Qualifications and Skills:

  1. Community College Degree or Diploma in a Technical Discipline or equivalent experience in electrical trades within the construction industry.
  2. Certification as a Construction Estimator or enrollment in the Gold Seal Estimator Certification program (C.C.A.).
  3. Familiarity with multi-trade disciplines.
  4. A minimum of 5 years of experience in Electrical Estimating within Industrial, Commercial, and Institutional sectors.
  5. Proficient in utilizing software for estimates.
  6. Skilled in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Microsoft Project).
  7. Strong organizational abilities.
  8. Capability to perform well under time constraints.
