About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Transportation Operations Specialist to join our team at CB Canada. As a key member of our logistics team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient transportation of goods across our network.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with carrier partners, operations teams, and the pharmacy network to resolve delivery, pickup, and returns issues and claims.
  • Audit carrier invoices against contract terms and approve transportation invoices for payment.
  • Ensure pricing is applied correctly and incentives are received accordingly.
  • Participate in client billing and set up new client billing.
  • Evaluate business processes and design, develop, and provide data to implement improvements that reduce costs, improve effectiveness, and enhance the quality or magnitude of the end result.
  • Gather information from our TMS and develop transportation-related databases as required for specific business needs.
  • Develop and analyze daily, weekly, and monthly transportation KPIs (key performance indicators).
  • Courier and LTL planning and forecasting to effectively select optimal carriers and modes of shipments.
  • Create and prepare data and requirements for transportation request for proposals (RFPs) and carrier conversions.
  • Develop and manage multiple RFP playbooks, conversion playbooks, and associated project plans, coordinating activities between DC management and carriers.
  • Develop new solutions to various challenges CB Canada faces as it relates to the distribution of products to external and internal customers, meeting business objectives.
  • Train others in the solutions designed to manage the processes necessary to support distribution and pharmacy operations.
  • Work with carriers and the Transportation Manager as needed to improve various aspects of performance.
  • Provide analysis and data for Transportation Manager divisional quarterly business reviews.
  • Interact with carriers and the Transportation Manager to improve service reporting ability.
  • Manage and update cost savings trackers.
  • Organize, manage, and maintain account set-ups to ensure consistency and easily identifiable spend by account.
  • Identify opportunities for consolidation of shipments across all transportation modes.
  • Assist in onboarding new carriers and technology partners.
  • Develop SOPs that ensure all carriers follow proper policies and procedures when delivering CB Canada freight.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Requires broad training in fields such as transportation, business administration, logistics, or similar vocations, generally obtained through completion of a four-year bachelor's degree program or equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Normally requires a minimum of five (5) years directly related and progressively responsible experience. Exposure to courier industry helpful, small package and LTL experience a plus.
  • Experience in the preparation of, or responding to, RFPs and RFQs in a transportation environment. Ability to effectively present information to all organizational levels; hourly associates, supervisors, upper management, and external groups related to the industry.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Pharmaceutical experience would be an asset.

  • Knowledge of automated freight pay and audit processes.
  • Good analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving skills to evaluate business problems and apply knowledge to identify appropriate solutions.
  • Exposure to the courier industry – experience specific to the healthcare environment is an asset.
