About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Policy Research and Initiatives Advisor to join our team. The successful candidate will provide expert and strategic policy support and advice to the Department, leading policy and program development initiatives and developing policy options and recommendations. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the Department's policies, services, and initiatives, as well as knowledge of provincial legislative, regulatory, and policy frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop program policies and implementation strategies for initiatives
  • Develop and execute program evaluations, managing both internal and external resources
  • Develop and assess strategic policy decisions, managing both internal and external resources
  • Lead or participate in cross-functional project teams to develop and implement Branch, Department, and Corporate priorities and programs
  • Research, analyze, and evaluate legislation and policies in a local, provincial, and federal context
  • Collect, analyze, manipulate, and manage information and data and associated systems
  • Interpret and provide policies, programs, or initiatives to internal and external stakeholders

Requirements

  • University degree in Environmental Science, Public Administration, Political Science, Economics, or related field
  • Demonstrated effectiveness with conducting financial analysis and producing program evaluations
  • Demonstrated experience in writing and reviewing reports/studies, including ability to identify problems, research, analyze, and interpret data
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Department's policies, services, and initiatives
  • Knowledge of provincial legislative, regulatory, and policy frameworks
