Position Overview: The Financial Initiatives Analyst plays a crucial role in delivering financial support to internal departments. Key responsibilities include:

  • Guiding clients through the development and assessment of business cases.
  • Performing cost-benefit analyses for large-scale utility software initiatives.
  • Collecting data by leading or participating in business case workshops with clients and vendors.
  • Preparing clients for business case justification with regulatory bodies and, if necessary, presenting recommendations on their behalf.
  • Conducting research and analysis on economic trends and advising management on business implications and forecasting impacts.
  • Creating and delivering compelling presentations to clients and their business, finance, and executive teams.
  • Researching and developing statistical models and technological innovations.
  • Evaluating financial and operational data to recommend optimizations for cost savings, technology enhancements, and operational improvements.
  • Conducting research and analysis for merger and acquisition projects, including sale and buy mandates, as well as financial and business modeling.

Qualifications:

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • In-depth knowledge of accounting principles (IFRS and US GAAP) and financial statements.
  • Expertise in AMI costing and essential components for implementation.
  • Strong understanding of business valuations, merger and acquisition deal structures, and equity analysis.
  • Intermediate knowledge of utility meter-to-cash processes, network, and IT operations is a plus.
  • Possession of a Class G license.
  • A post-secondary degree in Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with statistical analysis, economic analysis, and business analytics, with practical experience in applying these to business challenges.
  • Experience in the Utility Sector (Water, Gas, or Electricity) is advantageous.

Work Environment: This position offers a hybrid office environment, promoting work-life balance with flexible working arrangements, including the option to work from home.

  • Dental coverage at 80% for preventative and basic procedures, with a maximum of $2,500 per person every 12 months.
  • Long-term disability coverage at 75% of monthly basic earnings, up to a maximum of $8,000.
  • Life insurance coverage for employees ($25,000), spouses ($10,000), and children ($5,000).
  • A retirement plan with a three-month waiting period to join, with matching contributions from Util-Assist beginning after one year of employment.
