About the Role
The Department Manager, IT Applications is a key leadership position responsible for growing and leading the teams that oversee applications within BBA's IT department. This role requires a passionate, innovative, and experienced professional with outstanding team spirit to provide advice in decision-making when selecting, integrating, operating, and using all corporate applications.
Main Responsibilities
- Supervise the work of all applications teams and establish, lead, and execute all application initiatives and monitor progress.
- Define the scope and cost estimates for the required work and project deadlines for internal clients in specific areas, including Operations, Finance, Business Development, Human Resources, and Project Management.
- Lead application-related services by managing the corporate application portfolio (licences, contract renewals, versions, and rollouts), corporate solutions (document management systems, resource planning systems, training management systems, applicant tracking systems, and more), data integration and business intelligence services, productivity and digital work environment tools (Microsoft 365, Citrix, Teams, OneDrive), application integration and development.
- Share knowledge and experience with others and promote collaboration and innovation by keeping up to date with new trends in workplace technologies.
- Oversee the implementation of the DevOps methodology within the various product teams and establish relevant performance indicators and use them to monitor and optimize work.
Requirements
- Excellent spoken and written communication skills (English and French) to explain concepts and digital technologies to business leaders and business concepts to technologists to publish content about them and share ideas and processes with all levels of the organization, including the Board of Directors.
- Strong leadership skills: team building, achieving consensus, balancing team and individual responsibilities, and achieving goals by collaborating with people outside your authority while demonstrating ethics and integrity in your work.
- Experience in planning and implementing strategic technology solutions as well as formulating and updating policies.
- Ability to work with other business units (at the management level) to influence and implement changes to meet shared goals.
- Ability to effectively guide and support changes affecting employees, processes, and technology in a fast-paced, complex operational environment.
- Courage to suggest or support bold ideas.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work with many teams.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, information technology, information management, or other relevant field, or equivalent work experience.
- Five to eight years of work experience, preferably in business or IT management and, ideally, a combination of both.
- Three to five years of experience in team management.
- Ability to promote innovation programs as a catalyst for organizational change.
- Ability to travel to work at other BBA offices.
- Asset: knowledge of cloud computing.
- Asset: knowledge of an ERP system (Deltek Maconomy, Microsoft Dynamics).
- Asset: knowledge of the concept of data warehousing and business intelligence.
- Asset: solid network of application suppliers.
