Job Title: Development Officer

Join the University of New Brunswick's Advancement team as a Development Officer, responsible for cultivating and soliciting major gifts from individuals, corporations, and foundations to support the university's strategic priorities.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work with a talented team of advancement professionals to build relationships with key stakeholders and secure significant funding for the university's programs and initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a portfolio of 100-200 prospective donors and develop strategies to secure major gifts
  • Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward annual, major, and planned gift donors and prospects
  • Connect with individuals, corporations, and/or foundations through visits and other forms of direct personal contact
  • Contribute to volunteer engagement efforts to maximize the volunteer experience
  • Implement day-to-day development strategies and activities to ensure integration into the university's overall development program
  • Coordinate and lead short and long-range strategic planning activities to create and implement annual campaign fundraising goals and objectives
  • Plan and conduct programs and activities designed to increase the visibility of UNB to internal and external constituencies
  • Research, write, edit, and/or oversee the preparation of persuasive and accurate solicitations, proposals, case statements, reports, correspondence, and other development-related communication materials
  • Collaborate with advancement colleagues, deans, and volunteers to develop and implement strategies to secure financial support for approved fundraising initiatives
  • Establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with UNB faculty and staff, development colleagues, and appropriate board members to maximize the university's total gift revenue, strategic university leadership travel and visit schedule, and solicitation efforts
  • Effectively use the university's prospect management database and other institutional resources to ensure appropriate management of donors, prospects, alumni, and volunteers in coordination with university objectives
  • Leverage research on identified prospects to create strategies to match prospects' interests to university fundraising priorities
Requirements
  • A University Degree in Business Administration, or a related field
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in fundraising or a significant background in a related professional field which may include client/business development, sales or marketing
