Job Overview

The Pharmacy Manager is tasked with supervising all patient-related activities within the pharmacy. This role supports the Director (East Coast) in driving the overall performance and success of the pharmacy, ensuring alignment with the strategic vision and priorities of CBC McKesson Specialty Prescription Services. The individual will play a pivotal role in fostering a culture of accountability, enhancing business outcomes, and delivering outstanding patient care. The Manager will oversee daily operations, including prioritization, issue resolution, and workflow optimization within the pharmacy team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Directly manage team members to ensure efficient operational call flows.
  • Maintain the pharmacy's license in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Engage in patient care activities, including dispensing medications, providing counseling, and managing prescription renewals.
  • Facilitate recruitment, onboarding, and training processes for new staff members.
  • Encourage continuous team development through coaching and conducting performance evaluations.
  • Oversee quality assurance initiatives, including monitoring call quality and providing constructive feedback to enhance customer experience.
  • Meet or exceed performance metrics and deadlines established by service agreements.
  • Ensure compliance with internal and external service standards, identifying and mitigating risks as necessary.
  • Conduct analysis to identify root causes of issues and develop process improvements.
  • Collaborate with the team to devise innovative solutions to operational challenges.
  • Cultivate a team environment focused on exceptional customer service and ongoing quality enhancement.
  • Maintain and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and related documentation.
  • Ensure the highest standards of care are consistently delivered to patients and their families.
  • Provide regular updates to the Director regarding operational and quality issues, recommending improvements as needed.
  • Manage employee scheduling and resource allocation to optimize service delivery.
  • Assist the Director in developing policies and practices, ensuring adherence to established guidelines.
  • Conduct daily operational briefings with the Director to address staffing and resource allocation.
  • Track key performance indicators relevant to the pharmacy's operations.
  • Uphold and promote the principles of McKesson i2Care and iLead.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by management.

Essential Qualifications:

Knowledge:

  • Proven experience in people management with a focus on quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Familiarity with financial billing and accounts receivable processes.
  • Experience with Kroll pharmacy software is advantageous.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong time management abilities.
  • Excellent customer service skills, instilling similar expectations within the team.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Sound judgment and accountability.
  • Leadership capabilities to inspire and mentor team members.
  • Knowledge of retail pharmacy practices.
  • Understanding of biologics and specialty medications.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.

Experience:

  • Previous leadership experience in a pharmacy setting is preferred.
  • Licensed pharmacist in Nova Scotia.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in retail or specialty pharmacy is favored.
  • Strong communication skills with team members and external stakeholders.

Communication and Supervision:

  • Communication with: Provider Solutions, Staff, Patients, Clinics/Doctors, Drug Plans, Payers.
  • Direct Reports: Pharmacists, Regulated Technicians, and Pharmacy Coordinators.

CBC McKesson Specialty Prescription Services offers a competitive compensation package as part of our Total Rewards, determined by various factors including performance, experience, and skills.

Base Pay Range for this Position:

$71,100 - $118,500
