Importance of This Role:
OVERVIEW: This position is essential for assisting with the technical aspects of prescription dispensing, supporting pharmacy services, and contributing to the overall maintenance and functioning of the pharmacy in accordance with established standards. Your role will be to deliver exceptional, timely, and friendly service to our customers.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Customer Engagement
- Promptly greet customers and collect prescription details in line with established protocols
- Execute tasks based on the Role Assignment Schedule
- Direct all clinical inquiries to the pharmacist
- Dispense prescription medications accurately
- Handle third-party adjudication as necessary
- Set realistic expectations for wait times
- Locate and process prescriptions and ancillary items
- Refer customers needing counseling to the Pharmacist
- Manage the cash register within the dispensary
- Comply with all confidentiality and privacy regulations
ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES:
- Receive and process new and refill prescription orders following Standard Operating Procedures
- Prepare and submit orders, excluding controlled substances and narcotics
- Oversee third-party billing, both online and manual
- Answer phone inquiries and refer to a pharmacist when needed
- Manage incoming faxes in accordance with pharmacy standards
- Accurately file completed documentation as per pharmacy protocols
PRESCRIPTION MANAGEMENT:
- Assist in preparing prescriptions to meet company standards and professional services
- Data entry for new prescriptions and manage refill requests
- Select medications for prescriptions in compliance with pharmacy standards
- Efficiently count, measure, package, and label prescriptions according to established guidelines
- Accurately enter and maintain relevant data within pharmacy systems
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- Registered with the appropriate provincial licensing authority
- Diploma from an accredited Pharmacy Technician program
- Previous experience in a pharmacy setting is preferred
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask
- Problem-solving abilities
- Exceptional attention to detail
