Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Occupational Therapist to join our team at McMaster Children's Hospital. As an Occupational Therapist, you will work with pediatric surgical, GI, and complex care populations and their families in the inpatient setting. Your expertise will be invaluable in providing comprehensive care and coordinating follow-up to children to maximize their occupational performance and recovery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Apply clinical expertise of pediatric disease processes and related complex medical and surgical conditions to provide comprehensive care and coordinate follow-up to children.
  • Work with pediatric surgical, GI, and complex care populations and their families in the inpatient setting.
  • Liaise and communicate with team members, including the facilitation and coordination of community services and supports.
  • Provide occupational therapy services to children with a range of conditions, including feeding and swallowing, self-care, productivity, and leisure.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an approved School of Occupational Therapy.
  • Relevant experience, knowledge, and clinical skills in the provision of evidence-based occupational therapy practice in the management of infants, children, adolescents, and their families.
  • Well-developed knowledge of the role of occupational therapy services, and other disciplines along the continuum of care.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of relevant community services and children's treatment facilities.
  • Self-directed and flexible practitioner with well-developed critical thinking and clinical reasoning skills.
