About the Role

The Occupational Therapist will work in the 3Y Pediatric Inpatient Surgical Care/Gastrointestinal Unit, providing comprehensive care and coordination of follow-up to children to maximize their occupational performance and recovery.

Responsibilities
  • Apply clinical expertise of pediatric disease processes and related complex medical and surgical conditions to provide comprehensive care
  • Coordinate follow-up to children to maximize their occupational performance and recovery
  • Liaise and communicate with team members, including facilitation and coordination of community services and supports
  • Work with pediatric surgical, GI, and complex care populations and their families in the inpatient setting
  • Cross coverage for other inpatient units within McMaster Children's hospital as needed
Requirements
  • Current registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario
  • Graduate of an approved School of Occupational Therapy
  • Relevant experience, knowledge, and clinical skills in the provision of evidence-based occupational therapy practice in the management of infants, children, adolescents (and their families)
  • Minimum of three (3) years' recent, relevant clinical experience in a tertiary pediatric setting
  • Demonstrated experience with assessment, evaluation and treatment with pediatric surgical patients
  • Experience with pediatric feeding and swallowing assessment and treatment preferred
