About the Role

We are seeking a visionary leader to serve as the Director of Student Affairs and Success at the Academica Group. This key role provides strategic and operational leadership to a range of departments, programs, and committees focused on student experience, student rights and responsibilities, and holistic student development and support.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide strategic and visionary leadership to the Student Affairs team, developing and implementing plans to enhance the student experience.
  2. Act as an expert advisor on matters related to students, providing senior-level input into programs, initiatives, and policies related to student affairs.
  3. Assess ongoing efforts to meet strategic priorities, engaging in various modes of assessment to ensure programming, strategies, and goals are achieving articulated outcomes.
  4. Provide leadership, analysis, and advice on policies and procedures regarding students and services for students, including risk management.
  5. Establish and maintain a cohesive and integrated approach to student support and success, embracing student-ready principles and efficient use of resources.
Leadership Expectations
  • Create and implement plans to shape, align, and execute the strategic priorities to meet student and community needs.
  • Lead change by remaining flexible, adjusting to changing circumstances, and leading positive change by balancing innovation and calculated risk-taking.
  • Cultivate collaborative relationships by building effective working relationships internally and externally and collaborating to achieve mutually beneficial goals.
  • Inspire and develop talent by investing in developing yourself, staff, and faculty, effective teams, and our culture of excellence.
  • Make effective decisions by making sound and timely decisions that benefit the Academica Group in both straightforward and ambiguous circumstances.
  • Infuse Indigenization, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion by leading by example, valuing differing perspectives and backgrounds, and promoting equity, inclusion, and respect in a diverse environment.
Qualifications
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development relevant to the portfolio.
  • Eight years of senior management experience in post-secondary focused on student experience and success.
  • Proven ability to develop, monitor, and evaluate organizational plans.
  • Proven ability to engage in critical thought and data analysis to inform strategic planning, goal setting, and program evaluation and assessment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, presentation, and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage crisis interventions and emergencies.
  • Evidence of an inclusive and collaborative approach to leadership.
  • Management/supervision experience, ideally in a union environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including teambuilding.
  • Strong budget and financial management skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of post-secondary students, including subpopulations within and their academic success and support needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to model appropriate professional, ethical, and collaborative behaviours.
