GHD's Transportation Group is in search of a Commercial Manager. This role will report directly to our Commercial Director for Major Projects. The Project Commercial Manager will provide leadership in commercial and contract management to enhance GHD's performance on significant Design and Construction (D&C) contracts.

Working alongside a dynamic and high-performing team, this role offers diverse responsibilities, including:
Supporting GHD (and/or its joint venture partners) in positioning for tender design services for D&C Contractors, ensuring alignment with our risk profile. Assisting the Project Director and Project Manager during the execution of tender design services to ensure optimal commercial and contractual performance, while also developing and negotiating the commercial framework for subsequent detailed design services. Supporting the Project Director and Project Manager throughout the detailed design services phase, from design development to construction completion, to ensure commercial and contractual performance. Collaborating with the Legal and Risk Team to identify and mitigate project risks and manage any claims related to the project. Overseeing multiple projects to ensure effective commercial delivery.Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage the GHD Prime Contract or Joint Venture Contract for major projects. Submit Variation claims in accordance with the Consultancy Agreement, including the development and maintenance of a Variations register. Submit Delay notices and Extension of Time claims in accordance with the Consultancy Agreement, including the development and maintenance of an Extension of Time register. Ensure compliance with initial contract requirements, including bonds, letters of credit, guarantees, and insurance. Administer all commercial aspects of contracts and subcontracts, including payment terms, security packages, change orders, claims/disputes, and close-out matters. Maintain close communication with the Design Manager and Project Manager to ensure all substantive project issues are well understood and addressed. Identify and manage project commercial risks as part of the project's Risk Register. Collaborate with the Legal and Risk Team to manage any project claims and disputes. Ensure timely implementation of risk mitigation measures and track related costs. Work with the Project Director on claims under OCIP / Project Co policies.What you will bring to the team:
A Bachelor's degree, technology diploma, or equivalent from a recognized institution, with a minimum of ten years of extensive technical, administrative, and project experience. Strong commercial and legal acumen in the professional services and/or construction contracting industry; experience in design for design-build project delivery is advantageous. Understanding of the commercial frameworks and drivers of construction contractors, government, quasi-government, and private-sector clients. Experience in delivering design for larger, multi-discipline projects. Detailed knowledge of standard-form General Conditions of Contract for design and construction work, and experience applying these across various large projects. Familiarity with scheduling software and engineering and capital cost estimating techniques is a definite asset.
