Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior Manager of Commercial Management who will operate under the guidance of the Director of Commercial Management. This role involves leading and overseeing commercial governance and decision-making processes within the Commercial Payments Division, ensuring effective coordination across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the formulation and execution of comprehensive strategies, methodologies, and tools aimed at achieving excellence in commercial management and fostering continuous improvement.
  • Establish governance frameworks and management strategies to mitigate corporate liability and commercial risks.
  • Guide the development and execution of the overarching strategy for commercial management, ensuring alignment with the organization's complex operational and strategic objectives.
  • Develop and monitor performance benchmarks and metrics, establishing reporting mechanisms to assess the alignment of business unit initiatives with corporate strategy.
  • Regularly review Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and lead a team in creating insightful reports for management decision-making.
  • Analyze and implement measures to standardize and enhance operational processes.
  • Build and maintain relationships with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders, including third-party revenue partners and governmental agencies.
  • Lead the resolution of significant corporate issues to safeguard Metrolinx's commercial reputation and ensure sound decision-making.
  • Identify industry best practices in contract administration and stay informed on legal developments affecting future projects.
  • Create a work environment that aligns with Metrolinx's vision of being a premier employer, ensuring that personnel possess the necessary skills and resources.
  • Provide strategic leadership and indirectly manage team members engaged in related tasks.

Qualifications

  • A degree in a relevant field (Business, Management, Legal) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proven experience in progressively responsible commercial or business roles related to planning, design, and revenue generation.
  • Advanced understanding of governance frameworks.
  • Experience in risk assessment methodologies to identify and mitigate potential risks.
  • Strong grasp of contracting principles and practices to provide informed advice.
  • Ability to prioritize, schedule, and manage deliverables effectively.
  • Highly developed political acuity to navigate organizational challenges.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing strategic counsel to senior leadership.
  • Solid knowledge of project management principles to oversee cross-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with quality assurance principles to enhance contract management processes.
  • Broad understanding of budgetary processes and cost management.
  • Exceptional relationship management skills to foster partnerships with various stakeholders.
  • Strong written communication skills for developing executive briefs and presentations.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for presenting complex ideas clearly.
