Position Overview: Our Rapid Transit, Commercial Management Office is in search of a skilled professional to join our team as a Senior Advisor, Commercial Management. This pivotal role is essential to our high-performing team, as we oversee key contracts related to the maintenance of Metrolinx track and signal assets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough analysis of documents and contracts, preparing senior-level presentations and briefing materials on matters concerning Rapid Transit maintenance delivery projects during the tender, negotiation, contract award, and implementation phases.
  • Assist in contract negotiations in collaboration with internal stakeholders; provide insights on contract terms and conditions; oversee contract administration, and manage projects to ensure compliance with budgets and contractual obligations.
  • Perform financial and contract analysis, generating reports and presentations based on analytical findings to support planning and decision-making for Commercial Management leadership, Metrolinx Senior Management, and the Board.
  • Identify, evaluate, and propose solutions for financial and commercial challenges affecting Rapid Transit projects and/or contracts.
  • Collaborate with internal partners on commercially related issues within the transportation sector.
  • Examine administrative, operational, and project-related processes, developing and implementing streamlined solutions for identified inefficiencies.
  • Draft written communications with Rapid Transit vendors to address non-compliance with contractual terms, highlight escalation issues, and manage financial reconciliations.
  • Establish and maintain a network with transit authorities, government agencies, vendors, consultants, and contractors to coordinate projects, set priorities, exchange technical information, and share best practices.
  • Provide regular updates to the Commercial Management team regarding invoicing, budgets, and project status, identifying potential concerns and advising commercial leadership on contractor compliance risks.
  • Assist in the development, measurement, and reporting of team key performance indicators and other performance metrics.

Qualifications:

  • A degree in Applied Science, Engineering, Business, Law, or a related field, or a combination of education, training, and experience deemed equivalent.
  • Experience with contracts, contract law, and contract administration, including the development of memoranda, presentations, terms and conditions, quotations, negotiations, procurement, and dispute resolution materials.
  • Proven experience in project management and administration of commercial contracts, monitoring contractor/vendor compliance and performance against contract stipulations.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills to manage multiple complex projects effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal and oral/written communication skills.
