Position: Power Market Analyst, West

The Power Market Analyst, West position is part of the Market Analytics team, collaborating closely with the Western trading group (including ERCOT, WECC, and AESO) to develop proprietary tools, methodologies, and systems that facilitate decision-making and reporting within Energy Services and Liberty Utilities.

The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of North American power markets (such as ERCOT, CAISO, and AESO) and has experience with financial instruments including swaps, derivatives, and virtual transactions. The candidate should demonstrate advanced analytical skills and a comprehensive understanding of analytical methodologies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement models to assess risk metrics associated with assets
  • Track industry developments and communicate emerging trends
  • Support the trading team by providing pricing information
  • Assist in the scheduling and encoding of trades
  • Conduct fundamental-based price simulations
  • Independently produce detailed analyses
  • Gather and analyze power market data
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree is required
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience is preferred
  • Proficiency in R, Python, and SQL is advantageous
  • Experience in energy markets or on a trading floor is desirable
