About the Opportunity

The Respiratory Therapist plays a vital role in the Nova Scotia Health Authority, performing duties as required by the Respiratory Therapists within the Nova Scotia College of Respiratory Therapists' Scope of Practice and Institutional Policy and Procedure.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for achieving the goals and objectives pertaining to the Cardio-Respiratory Department, including assessments, implementation of treatment, evaluation, care plan, and education of patients requiring respiratory therapy.

The Respiratory Therapist will obtain a patient history and assess the clinical significance of therapist-driven protocols as related to respiratory therapy care, conduct a full respiratory assessment, and evaluate progress, adapting a treatment plan according to patient needs and expected outcomes.

The Respiratory Therapist will also implement a respiratory discharge plan, ensuring a smooth transition for patients.

About You

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Respiratory Therapist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Respiratory Therapy, and be registered with the Nova Scotia College of Respiratory Therapists
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Neonatal Resuscitation Program Certified or willingness to obtain
  • Current Heart & Stroke BCLS (Level C) Certification
  • Member in good standing with the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapist (CSRT) preferred
  • Successful completion of hospital-based certification and recertification procedures are mandatory for continued employment
  • Ability to prioritize, problem solve, and work under pressure of time limitations
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills; must be an effective team player
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours
  • Permanent Full-time Position; 75 hours bi-weekly
Compensation and Incentives

The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary of $40.66 per hour.

Additionally, successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.

Successful candidates may also be eligible for a signing bonus and relocation assistance with a defined Return of Service contract.
