Job Title: Executive Chef

MATRIX Camps and Logistics is a leading provider of camps, logistics, and aviation management services to various clients in the resource and service sectors. We prioritize safety, transparency, and cost-effectiveness in our operations.

We are seeking an experienced Executive Chef to lead our culinary team in a remote camp setting. This position involves a 21/21 rotational schedule and will be based in a remote location in Nunavut, near Bathurst Inlet.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage the culinary team to ensure smooth and efficient food service operations.
  • Design menus, create recipes, and maintain high-quality food presentation that meets or exceeds client expectations.
  • Oversee food inventory control, including ordering, receiving, and storage.
  • Maintain strict adherence to food handling, safety, and sanitation standards.
  • Train and develop kitchen staff to ensure they possess the necessary knowledge and skills.
  • Implement and monitor efficient and cost-effective cooking processes.
  • Manage and maintain all kitchen equipment to ensure proper functionality and cleanliness.
  • Collaborate with project managers and clients to fulfill specific catering requests and dietary needs.
  • Execute and oversee special events and functions.
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience as an Executive Chef or similar role in a FIFO camp setting is required.
  • Red Seal certification is a definite asset.
  • Extensive knowledge of food preparation techniques, culinary trends, and best practices.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a remote and demanding environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to manage and motivate a team.
  • Certification in food safety and sanitation is required.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment and ongoing drug and alcohol testing.
  • Flexibility to work on a rotational schedule, 12 hour days.
