Work Arrangement: 4 days in the office, 1 day remote

Role Overview

As we enhance our Credit Risk capabilities in Toronto, you will play a pivotal role as one of the initial analysts in this critical area.

Our lending decisions are driven by comprehensive business insights. The Credit Risk team conducts in-depth analyses of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) seeking our services. This involves evaluating their market position, financial health, product offerings, operational activities, and cash flow projections.

You will be responsible for preparing submissions for our Credit Committee, providing detailed analyses and recommendations, and contributing to the automation of risk modeling while adapting our processes to align with local market conditions.

A key aspect of your role will be to incorporate qualitative insights into credit decisions, including the granting of credit lines, ongoing monitoring, and collection efforts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support and report directly to the Country Head of Credit Risk;
  • Handle ad hoc requests from the Head of Credit Risk and Senior Vice President of Credit Risk;
  • Conduct thorough credit evaluations of potential clients for trade finance and currency trading products, focusing on financials, operations, and trading cycles;
  • Present and defend your analyses at credit committee meetings to senior leadership, including C-Suite executives;
  • Collaborate closely with other departments, such as front office and operations, to ensure a seamless client experience and clear communication of Credit Risk team decisions;
  • Manage an existing client portfolio, monitoring their credit status and assessing risk versus reward for Ebury;
  • Proactively oversee your workload and pipeline;
  • Engage with managers across different regions to provide insights or assistance as needed;
  • Contribute ideas for process improvements.

Desired Qualifications

We value a thoughtful approach to credit analysis and seek candidates who embody this philosophy. Below are the qualifications we are looking for:

  • Experience in SME credit underwriting, financial analysis, or a strong understanding of creditworthiness assessment;
  • Clear, structured, and concise communication skills with the ability to articulate complex concepts effectively;
  • Solid grasp of Canadian accounting standards;
  • Familiarity with foreign exchange markets and related products;
  • Proficiency in Excel in a professional context;
  • High level of fluency in both English and French.
