Position Overview

If you are eager to take on a rewarding role in vehicle mechanical maintenance and contribute positively to our community, we encourage you to submit your updated CV. We seek a qualified vehicle technician with experience in HGV, coaches, or buses, as well as ex-military personnel holding an NVQ Level 3 in mechanics, who are looking for a stable career with opportunities for growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct vehicle diagnostics, servicing, and repairs, including MOT preparations, adhering to First Bus Standard Engineering Operating Procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with all Health, Safety, and Environmental legislation and Group Policies.
  • Adhere to all relevant Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Continuously develop and maintain technical skills as necessary.
  • Work across various depots in the eastern region, following a 5 days on, 2 days off shift pattern, with potential for overtime.

We will provide the necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) to perform your duties effectively.

Compensation: £17.39 per hour

Shift Pattern: Alternating early and late shifts

  • Monday - Friday, 06:00 - 13:54 for early shifts, and 12:30 - 20:24 for late shifts

Weekend cover may be required as overtime.

Candidate Profile

  • Minimum Level 3 NVQ standard or equivalent (e.g., City & Guilds Level 1 & 2) with relevant work experience.
  • Flexible approach to working hours.
  • Willingness to mentor and develop team members within the Engineering Team.
  • Possession of a PCV license is preferred, or a willingness to obtain one (First Bus will assist in this process).
  • Experience with HGV, buses, or coaches is advantageous.
