Job Summary

Thales is seeking a highly skilled Senior Systems Engineer to join our team in Ottawa, Canada. As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the design and integration of complex systems in the commercial and military domains.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the system engineering process, practices, and tools to ensure successful project execution.
  • Estimate and decompose work in an agile lifecycle process to meet project requirements.
  • Provide timely and accurate status updates to stakeholders.
  • Develop preliminary and detailed designs for system and subsystem elements.
  • Review and validate internal and subcontractor designs, plans, and schedules.
  • Identify, characterize, and describe issues in the system or its design through problem reports and document and design reviews.
  • Author technical documentation to capture system and subsystem designs, including architecture, interfaces, and installation elements.
  • Support the development of verification and validation artifacts, including plans and procedures.
  • Collaborate with other functions during the implementation and integration of system and subsystem designs.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure designs are consistent with needs, desires, and concerns of end-users.
  • Resolve technical issues arising during implementation, integration, and testing of system and subsystem elements.
  • Support the installation and/or integration testing of systems remotely or on customer site.
  • Manage technical subcontractors, including work scope and compliance of supplied solutions.

Requirements

  • Minimum 7 years of professional experience in design and integration of complex systems in commercial and/or military domains.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering discipline or equivalent education with relevant experience.
  • Experience in sensors, networking, communications, NATO/MIL standards, and cloud/virtualization is an asset.

Physical Demands

  • Standard office environment with potential for minimal lifting of test and electronic equipment and connecting equipment in a lab environment or job site.

Special Position Requirements

  • Hybrid position with full-time, standard business hours.
  • Possibility of occasional travel to customer site for technical support/integration activities.
  • Possibility of occasional travel within Canada for planning events.
