Job Summary

Thompson Rivers University is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Strategic Research and Planning Lead to join our team. As a key member of our Institutional Planning and Analysis department, you will play a critical role in providing strategic research and planning support to the university's senior leadership and academic departments.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Leadership and Supervision

Provide direct supervision and guidance to a team of research analysts and associates, including participating in hiring committees and providing regular performance feedback.

Departmental Planning and Operations

Develop and implement departmental plans, schedules, and workflows to ensure efficient and effective service delivery.

Training and Development

Design and deliver training programs for new staff members, monitor their progress, and develop associated training materials.

Consultation and Advice

Provide expert consultation and advice to university departments, senior leadership, and committees on research and planning matters.

Research and Analysis

Design and conduct research projects, analyze data, and prepare reports with descriptive and inferential statistics and qualitative analyses.

Communication and Reporting

Communicate research findings to internal and external stakeholders through clear and concise reports, presentations, and dashboards.

Process Improvement

Lead the monitoring and improvement of business processes, service levels, and data integrity within the department.

Requirements
  • Education

Undergraduate university degree in an analytical discipline (e.g., economics, sociology, management sciences, engineering, computing, or accounting), plus at least one year of education post-graduation leading to a certification/designation in a related field.

Experience

At least six years of related experience, including four years of experience designing and conducting research and reporting.

Skills and Knowledge

Advanced skills with Microsoft Word and Excel, relational databases, business intelligence and data visualization software, survey software, and statistical analyses software.

Other Requirements

Ability to work collaboratively with other departments, communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders, and manage workload with changing priorities and tight deadlines.
