Position Overview:
Liberty Mutual Canada is in search of a meticulous Senior Analyst in Reinsurance Finance to become a part of our Global Reinsurance division. This role is pivotal in supporting monthly financial reporting, collaborating with brokers on billing and collections, and engaging in various projects as needed. The ideal candidate will also handle monthly general ledger accounting and month-end closing processes. As a Senior Analyst, you will be tasked with reviewing and reconciling monthly and quarterly reinsurance agreements that vary in complexity, based on the respective contracts. Additionally, you will contribute to the preparation of corporate reporting requirements on a monthly and quarterly basis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage general ledger accounting and month-end closing activities.
- Conduct internal and external financial reporting, ensuring templates are maintained and updated as necessary.
- Compile and analyze data for the Actuarial team to meet quarterly deadlines.
- Perform account reconciliations to ensure accuracy.
- Oversee the management and reporting of Letters of Credit (LOCs) and collateral.
- Support internal and external audit processes.
- Review reinsurance datasets and prepare necessary documentation including premium bordereaux and loss summaries.
- Ensure accurate reconciliation of statements and accounts with system sub-ledgers.
- Assist in financial planning and forecasting initiatives.
- Engage in ad hoc projects and requests as needed.
- Update and reconcile the reinsurance database on a monthly basis.
- Conduct additional analysis and accounting-related projects as assigned.
- Collaborate with regional finance teams and Liberty Mutual Home Office on reinsurance matters.
- Provide support for statutory reporting requirements.
- Prepare necessary tax reporting and other corporate deliverables.
- Contribute to process and reporting enhancement initiatives.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in finance or accounting, preferably within the insurance sector focusing on Property & Casualty with knowledge of reinsurance.
- Professional accounting designation (CPA) is preferred or equivalent experience.
- Comprehensive understanding of reinsurance concepts, products, and processes is advantageous.
- Proficient in handling large datasets to derive actionable business insights.
- High level of expertise in Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with automated accounting and reporting systems.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify and resolve issues.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal.
