Job SummaryWe are seeking a Senior Reinsurance Underwriter - Hybrid Solutions to join our Toronto, Canada office. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for new and renewal underwriting of Managing General Agents and Automatic Facultative accounts, while adhering to underwriting rules, pricing, and selection standards.
Key Responsibilities- New and renewal underwriting of Managing General Agents and Automatic Facultative accounts, including Property, general liability, automobile liability, excess, umbrella liability, and professional liability.
- Developing and cultivating new and existing carrier and reinsurance broker relationships to maintain an opportunity pipeline.
- Building and maintaining strong customer relationships through exceptional service to internal and external customers.
- Contributing to specific Performance Plans assigned to the Hybrid division to reach projected premium and profitability goals.
- Collaborating with all functional areas of the company, including claims, accounting, contract wording, and actuarial, to support company objectives.
- Maintaining awareness of competitor capabilities and strategies, market trends in the insurance and reinsurance marketplace.
- Attending industry conferences and meetings as necessary.
- Traveling as required to achieve the above.
- Bachelor's degree or above, and insurance certifications, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 10 years of Canadian Property/Casualty underwriting experience, including automobile, financial lines, and other specialty lines.
- Reinsurance (facultative or treaty), program, or professional lines experience is a plus.
- Knowledge or past experience with Managing General Agents or portfolio underwriting.
- Experience with auditing property and casualty accounts.
- Ability to stay organized within a fast-paced, team-oriented, and dynamic work environment.
- Knowledge of catastrophe modeling and data requirements for detailed analysis.
- Self-motivated and able to effectively and efficiently work remotely when necessary.
- Demonstrated knowledge of underwriting pricing for property, auto liability, general liability, and excess/umbrella liability.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Strong relationship management and business development skills.
- Excellent analytical skills.
- Good computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft programs, including Excel.
