Job Summary

We're seeking a Project Accountant to join our team in Montreal. As a Project Accountant, you will play a key role in supporting our project teams with financial operations, ensuring timely and accurate processing of accounts payable and accounts received.

Responsibilities

  • Financial Operations
    • Perform clerical and data entry support to meet contractual requirements for operational and basic accounting.
    • Process all accounts payable and accounts received in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Reporting and Analysis
    • Provide project teams with ad hoc reports and analysis as the need arises.
    • Assist with the assembly of information for internal and external financial reporting requirements.
  • Client Billing and Cash Management
    • Assemble client billings packages in accordance with contract terms and conditions and ensure timely payment.
    • Prepare bank deposits and cash receipt entries.

Qualifications

  • Education
    • High school diploma.
    • Bachelor's degree or diploma in a related field is considered an asset.
  • Experience
    • Some student experience or 6 months to 1 year of accounting or administrative experience is preferred.
  • Skills
    • Exposure to project forecasting and budgeting.
    • Basic understanding of accounting principles, including maintenance of ledgers and cash flows.
    • Exposure to project costing principles, recoveries, insurance, and contract/subcontract requirements as related to accounting.
    • Exposure to subcontract purchase order terms, including insurance and subcontractor default insurance requirements.
    • Basic understanding of lien rights.
    • Ability to act with the required discretion when handling confidential information.
    • Understanding of Microsoft Office Suite and experience with accounting software is an asset.
