Role Overview

The Medical/Surgical Neurosciences Unit (MSNU) specializes in the care of children with various surgical needs, including but not limited to cardiac, orthopedic, and neurological conditions. As a Registered Nurse (RN) in this unit, you will be an integral part of an interdisciplinary team, delivering holistic and evidence-based care tailored to the unique needs of patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments and develop individualized care plans.
  • Implement and evaluate patient care strategies in collaboration with families and healthcare team members.
  • Provide leadership in nursing practices to promote health and well-being.
  • Engage in continuous professional development and contribute to a culture of excellence in care.
  • Advocate for patients and families, ensuring their needs and preferences are prioritized.
Qualifications

To be considered for this position, candidates should possess:

  • A degree from an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Current licensure or eligibility for licensure with the College of Registered Nurses of Nova Scotia.
  • A minimum of two years of pediatric nursing experience is preferred.
  • Recent experience in orthopedic and cardiac nursing is advantageous.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Family-Centered Care principles.
Work Environment

This position involves working 11.25-hour shifts on a rotating schedule, ensuring continuous care for our patients.
