Senior Associate - Pension Administration

We are looking for a dedicated, proactive, and career-oriented individual to become a member of our Pension Administration division.

This position offers a hybrid work model, allowing flexibility to work remotely and from our designated offices.

Applicants must possess legal authorization to work in Canada. This role does not qualify for sponsorship, and we are unable to provide sponsorship or assume responsibility for an employment visa or work permit.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Deliver exceptional service to Defined Benefit Pension clients.
  2. Calculate, review, and authorize benefit entitlements related to retirement, termination, death, and marriage dissolution.
  3. Conduct year-end updates of plan records, including membership reconciliation, contributions, and trust fund management.
  4. Calculate and review PAs, PSPAs, and PARs, and prepare the necessary filing documentation.
  5. Prepare and review annual pension statements.
  6. Interpret and analyze pension plan documents.
  7. Ensure quality control of year-end data entry and verify computer-generated outputs.
  8. Communicate with clients regarding data management, administration, and interpretation of pension plan documents.
  9. Prepare, review, and submit government forms, including Annual Information Returns and other relevant documentation.
  10. Monitor team progress and collaborate with various departments to ensure timely service delivery.
  11. Assist in the setup and testing of systems for new and existing clients in accordance with plan provisions and administrative needs.
  12. Contribute to the development and maintenance of standard operating procedures.
  13. Respond to member inquiries and facilitate their requests.
  14. Participate in client meetings in a supportive technical capacity.
  15. Coordinate with trust companies and plan auditors.
  16. Maintain accurate client records.
  17. Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications and Skills:

  1. Minimum of 2 years of experience with Defined Benefit pension plans is preferred.
  2. Educational background in Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Sciences, or Finance.
  3. Prior experience in reviewing calculations and year-end processes (PAs, Indexation, Annual Statements, etc.).
  4. Familiarity with relevant provincial and federal pension legislation and provisions of the Income Tax Act.
  5. Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
  6. Experience with pension administration systems, along with advanced spreadsheet skills and mathematical proficiency.
  7. Detail-oriented with robust pension administration and organizational abilities.
  8. Proficient in advanced Excel and knowledgeable in Word.
  9. Client-focused approach.
  10. Additional assets include proficiency in the French language, a relevant degree, and completion of CEBS, PPAC, CHRP, or actuarial courses.
