The Opportunity - Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Program Manager, Full-time, Permanent
Purpose of Position
Reporting to the Chief People and Culture Officer (CPCO), the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Program Manager will uphold Olds College's commitment to fostering an inclusive, respectful, and healthy workplace and learning environment. This role is vital in cultivating a diverse and highly engaged workforce and inclusive culture through the management of key EDI initiatives. The Program Manager will analyze, design, and implement organization-wide programs and events that support EDI initiatives while providing insights and recommendations based on trends, gaps, and measured outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
The EDI Program Manager will:
- Develop and execute campus-wide initiatives that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion, while supporting indigenization and psychological safety to enhance the employee and student experience.
- Collaborate closely with the Chief People and Culture Officer and other team members, as well as internal and external stakeholders.
- Apply an EDI lens to existing and new programs, services, policies, and procedures to integrate diversity and inclusion into daily practices, fostering an environment of mutual respect and engagement.
- Act as a subject matter expert and internal advisor on all matters related to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
- Build and maintain constructive relationships with the EDI Committee and Sub-Committees, ensuring effective communication and collaboration with internal and external parties.
The Program Manager will carry out responsibilities with a high degree of independence, integrity, and professionalism, supporting a culture of lifelong learning and excellence in human resource practices.
Manage EDI Initiatives and Project Execution
- Develop comprehensive project plans for all short- and mid-term initiatives, including events, activities, training, timelines, resources, and metrics.
- Collaborate across departments to effectively implement strategies.
- Communicate progress and requirements to key stakeholders regularly.
- Create processes and documentation to support ongoing projects.
Employee Relations
- Assist leadership in developing EDI plans that align with institutional priorities, including conducting needs assessments and gap analyses.
- Provide consultative services to managers and employees regarding human resources and EDI policies and procedures.
- Conduct research and provide recommendations on employee and labor relations related to EDI topics.
EDI Committees and Activities
- Facilitate and support the execution of events, workshops, and programs that promote EDI.
- Coordinate with the EDI Committee, employee resource groups, and other stakeholders to ensure aligned planning.
Support for People and Culture and College Initiatives
- Play a key role in designing and implementing diversity and inclusion-related HR programs.
- Apply a diversity and inclusion perspective to existing and new organizational practices.
- Develop resources and tools to support a culturally safe working and learning environment.
Communications
- Provide input and develop communications targeted at employees.
- Implement recurring Diversity & Inclusion processes and recommend improvements.
- Analyze and report on EDI-related data, identifying issues and suggesting solutions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Management, Social Sciences, Cultural Studies, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, including project management in inclusion, diversity, equity, or accessibility.
- A Certificate in Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion or ongoing coursework towards an EDI credential is an asset.
- Experience in a unionized environment or post-secondary institution is preferred.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to facilitate presentations and training effectively.
- Proven project management and organizational skills.
- Ability to conduct research and analyze information and data.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications, including word processing and HRIS systems.
