The Alberta Emergency Management Agency (AEMA) is tasked with the protection of individuals, their property, and the environment from the impacts of emergency situations.

The Emergency Management Officer will oversee the implementation and adherence to AIMPTS and AHJ policies.

This role emphasizes the enforcement of incident management (IM) standards as outlined in the LEMR, ensuring that IM practitioners receive the necessary training to effectively perform incident management duties across the province.

Responsibilities include:
- Application and enforcement of the ICS Canada Curriculum and Training Standards.
- Development, execution, and maintenance of a Quality Assurance Program for ICS.
- Establishing training and experiential standards for instructors.
- Identifying necessary refresher training and currency periods for IM personnel in Alberta, excluding those set by formal licensing bodies.
- Assessing the equivalency of third-party training courses to ensure they meet or exceed the AHJ-approved curriculum.
- Defining the appeals process for grievances related to IM training standards within Alberta.
- Establishing and enforcing a Quality Assurance Program for IM training standards in the province.

Candidates should possess a university degree in a relevant field along with a minimum of four years of progressively responsible experience in emergency management, standards enforcement, or compliance. Significant experience in developing and implementing training standards is essential.

A Class 5 driver’s license with a clean driving record and the ability to obtain an air brake certificate are required.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in adult education and instruction, including the development of content and course materials.
- Knowledge and experience with Quality Assurance best practices.

- Experience interacting with the public, media, emergency responders (police/fire/EMS), and senior officials in public, private, volunteer, and NGO sectors.
