Position Overview:

The role involves managing machine setups and transitions related to the packaging of pharmaceutical products. A systematic approach to troubleshooting and effective repairs of packaging and production machinery is essential. Regular preventative maintenance on equipment is a key responsibility, alongside contributing technical insights during the procurement of new machinery. The integration of new systems into existing packaging lines is also part of the role.

Additionally, the position requires addressing building maintenance issues as they arise. Monitoring and adjusting machinery performance is crucial to ensure efficient production runs, high-quality outputs, and minimal waste. Coordination of tasks is necessary to achieve optimal production efficiency while maintaining safe working practices in the operation of packaging equipment.

Key Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be expected to fulfill the following duties:

  1. Efficiently set up and operate various packaging and production equipment.
  2. Adjust machinery to ensure effective production runs with high quality and minimal waste.
  3. Manage the setup of packaging lines, including changeovers and tooling maintenance.
  4. Oversee the technical and production aspects of the line.
  5. Collaborate with Quality Assurance, packaging staff, and team leaders.
  6. Identify and pursue continuous improvement opportunities.
  7. Utilize technical expertise to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
  8. Plan and execute regular preventative maintenance, including major overhauls.
  9. Ensure compliance with cleaning protocols for all packaging machinery.
  10. Assist with facility maintenance as required.
  11. Perform packaging tasks related to pharmaceutical products.
  12. Engage in assigned projects, such as equipment installation and relocation.
  13. Support and promote a safe working environment.
  14. Conduct root cause analyses and risk assessments on equipment issues.
  15. Adhere to all safety standards, standard operating procedures, and job-specific protocols.
  16. Review equipment manuals to optimize operational conditions.
  17. Participate in project execution, including documentation and asset relocation.
  18. Assist in developing equipment-related standard operating procedures and validation documents.
  19. Utilize the site's Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for maintenance work orders.
  20. Lead and support equipment qualification processes and technical service visits.
  21. Ensure effective communication across shifts.
  22. Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
  23. Maintain knowledge of and compliance with PCI, cGMP, and GCP policies and procedures.
  24. Attendance is a critical function of this role.
  25. Fabricate change parts and brackets as necessary.
  26. Proficiently use hand and shop tools.

Qualifications:

Required:

Licensed Industrial Mechanic Millwright (433A) with 6 to 10 years of experience in a pharmaceutical packaging environment, or Licensed Industrial or Construction and Maintenance Electrician (442A or 309A) with strong electrical aptitude and relevant experience.

Non-licensed candidates must pass a technical aptitude assessment involving hands-on demonstrations.

General technical knowledge in electrical, pneumatic, and HVAC systems is essential. Familiarity with various packaging equipment is a significant advantage.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills are necessary, along with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines. Self-motivation and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision are crucial.

Preferred:

Licensed Electrician (442A or 309A) or equivalent electrical aptitude with the ability to interpret electrical and pneumatic schematics. Experience in fabrication and basic TIG welding is advantageous. Candidates should demonstrate sound judgment, adaptability to changing environments, and attention to detail.

This position may require overtime and/or weekend work.
