Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Line Cook/General Assistant to join our food services team at Sodexo Canada Ltd. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for preparing and serving high-quality food to our customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Food Preparation: Prepare and cook foodstuffs in quantities according to menu and number of persons to be served.
  • Station Setup and Maintenance: Set up, maintain, and break down station according to food operating guidelines.
  • Quality Control: Taste all products produced to assess quality.
  • Inventory Management: Notify Sous Chef and/or Executive Chef of all product shortages and equipment maintenance issues.
  • Service Standards: Prepare and serve items in accordance with established portion and presentation standards.
  • Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Maintain accurate counts on all food items prepared, ensuring no discrepancies in amount of food needed verses amount of food prepared.
  • Equipment Operation: Use food preparation equipment according to manufacturer's instructions.
  • Cleanliness and Sanitation: Clean and maintain station while practicing exceptional safety, sanitation, and organizational skills.
  • Food Safety and Handling: Follow defined food sanitation guidelines in preparation of food product and maintaining work environment.
  • Supply Requisition: Requisition supplies and equipment as needed.
  • Training and Development: Attend training programs as designated.
  • Workplace Safety: Participate in regular safety meetings, safety training, and hazard assessments.
  • Accident Reporting: Report all accidents and injuries in a timely manner.
Requirements
  • Education and Certification: Food Safe Level I is minimum. Safe Check advanced food safety certification or HACCP certification is an asset.
  • Experience: Minimum 1 year's cooking experience in a similar or hotel/institutional environment.
