Role Responsibilities: As a vital member of a multidisciplinary healthcare team, the Surgical Care Nurse operates as a proficient and autonomous practitioner, responsible for assessing, planning, delivering, and evaluating nursing care for designated patients.
Qualifications: Education, Training, and ExperienceMust possess registration with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant; and
Completion of post-basic education in surgical or ambulatory care nursing tailored to unit specifications; or
An equivalent combination of education and training.
Up to two (2) years of recent, relevant experience specific to the unit.
Certification in Basic Life Support, Level C.
Skills and Abilities- Utilize the nursing process as outlined in the BC College of Nurses and Midwives Standards of Nursing Practice.
- Exhibit strong organizational, problem-solving, and educational skills.
- Demonstrate sound judgment, keen observation, and patient assessment capabilities.
- Show empathy and tact in all interactions.
- Effectively prioritize and manage patient care demands and needs.
- Operate necessary medical equipment proficiently.
- Maintain composure and respond appropriately in high-pressure and emergency situations.
- Collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Promote positive public relations.
- Communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Physically capable of fulfilling the responsibilities of the position.
- Work independently with minimal supervision.
