Qualifications and Requirements

**Registration and Certification**

Registration with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant is required. Additionally, Basic Life Support, Level C certification is necessary. Recognized post-basic education is also required for clinical areas, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A minimum of one year's recent related experience is required.

**Specialty Unit Requirements**

Specialty unit nurse positions require area-specific specialty certification for the unit. Emergency Room, ICU, and Critical Care Relief Pool positions also require Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification. Critical care and specialty units (i.e. Emergency, ICU, O.R., P.A.R., Obstetrics, Paediatrics, Psychiatry) require a minimum of two years' recent related experience.
