Occupational Therapist Assistant/Physiotherapy Assistant

Baycrest Hospital is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Occupational Therapist Assistant/Physiotherapy Assistant to join our team.
Job Summary:The Occupational Therapist Assistant/Physiotherapy Assistant will provide clinical care to various hospital clients, both inpatient and outpatient, in the Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation High-Tolerance unit and other areas as needed. This role will work as an integral part of an inter-professional team to help patients attain maximum physical and functional goals to support return to living in the community as independently as possible.
Responsibilities:- Carry out ambulation and transfer training, activities of daily living, and instrumental activities of daily living for clients.
- Provide upper extremity and lower extremity programs, range of motion/stretching programs, mobility training, transfer training, cognitive training, functional treatment, exercise classes, group treatment, and educational treatment for clients and/or caregivers.
- Provide indirect care, including sewing modifications, adaptive clothing, positioning devices, environmental modifications, wheelchair/walker modifications, inventory checks, and equipment maintenance.
- Assist clients in purchasing equipment.
- Participate in the supervision of OTA/PTA students and volunteers.
- Occupational Therapist Assistant/Physiotherapist Assistant diploma from an accredited college program or equivalent.
- Recent and related experience, preferably in a dual role, or a 30-hour refresher course completed within the last six months.
- Recent related rehabilitation experience with older adult populations with various conditions, such as orthopaedic, neurological, musculoskeletal, mental health, etc.
- Knowledge of occupational therapy and physiotherapy areas of practice, including activities of daily living, assistive devices, home safety, and energy conservation.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Basic computer skills, including Meditech, MDS, SERS, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
