Position Overview

As a Child Development Specialist at Kindertots Child Care Centre, you will play a crucial role in fostering the growth and development of young children. This permanent position requires a commitment of 40 hours per week and proficiency in English.

Qualifications
  • Education: Completion of a college or CEGEP program, or a non-university certificate or diploma lasting 1 to 2 years.
  • Experience: Previous experience in a similar role is considered an asset.
Work Environment
  • Non-smoking facility.
  • Child care centre setting.
Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate children's developmental milestones to create personalized learning plans.
  • Support colleagues with daily housekeeping and meal preparation tasks.
  • Care for infants and toddlers, including bathing, diapering, and feeding.
  • Design and execute child-care programs that enhance the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social growth of children.
  • Maintain and organize daycare equipment.
  • Engage children through storytelling and creative activities.
  • Communicate developmental progress and concerns to parents and guardians.
  • Assist in implementing programs that promote holistic child development.
  • Lead engaging activities, including storytelling, music, and excursions.
  • Manage inventory and order necessary supplies.
  • Support record-keeping for early childhood educators or supervisors.
  • Encourage creative expression through various mediums such as art and music.
  • Guide children in developing healthy habits related to eating, dressing, and hygiene.
  • Prepare snacks and arrange environments for meals and rest.
  • Monitor children for potential learning or behavioral issues and report findings.
  • Participate in staff meetings to discuss children's progress and challenges.
  • Understand and adhere to licensing regulations.
  • Establish behavior guidelines for children.
  • Foster collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers.
  • Ensure a safe and nurturing environment that prioritizes children's health and well-being.
Certifications Required
  • Membership in the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE).
  • Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certificate.
  • First Aid and CPR certifications.
