Located on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded lands of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations, the District of West Vancouver is a vibrant community on the North Shore, home to parks, beaches, and sports, recreation, and arts amenities.
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team as a Youth Outreach Worker. This role will involve delivering preventative, community-based services to address age-appropriate needs, responding to youths' unique needs, and engaging with youth in all places and spaces in West Vancouver.
Key Responsibilities:- Establish ongoing relationships with youth, including those in imminent risk, to provide support and develop personal, social, and leadership potential.
- Provide outreach to youth in the community.
- Work independently and utilize critical thinking skills to work effectively with youth in crisis.
- Assist in managing youth in our various Youth Services drop-in spaces.
- Plan, develop, coordinate, implement, and supervise Youth Services outreach programs, out trips, and events.
- Work in partnership and collaboration with other Youth Services providers.
- Understand a wide variety of youth issues.
- University or college degree in social sciences or a youth-related subject, such as Education or Child and Youth Care.
- Minimum of two years' experience working with youth, preferably in an outreach capacity.
- Current Emergency First Aid (or better) with CPR 'C' and AED certification.
- Unrestricted Class 4 BC Driver's License and access to use of a personal vehicle.
