Job Role

The Guidewire Engineer will possess an in-depth knowledge of Guidewire products, particularly in Policy Center, Billing Center, or Claim Center. This position will engage with both internal and external stakeholders to design, develop, and implement program and/or configuration changes that enhance business operations within Guidewire. The individual will take on a leadership role within the team, fostering the development of Guidewire skills and experience among team members.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and configure the Guidewire Suite of Products according to client requirements to streamline underwriting processes in policy management systems while ensuring system architecture remains stable and scalable.
  • Collaborate with the client's technical team, which includes senior engineers and designers, to develop system integrations with various vendors within the existing distributed system architecture.
  • Lead application development on Guidewire Configuration, including screens, workflows, underwriting rules, forms, and rating engines.
  • Automate unit testing and generate test data to ensure comprehensive testing coverage.
  • Conduct rapid prototyping and create Proofs of Concept (POC), effectively communicating design concepts to IT Product Owners and senior management.
  • Perform Guidewire Cloud health assessments and security analyses across all Guidewire Centers, including Policy, Claims, Billing, and Digital Portal.
  • Provide technical guidance on critical production support issues across Policy Center, Claim Center, and Billing Center, including troubleshooting and resolving bugs.
  • Analyze complex interdependent issues within Guidewire and non-Guidewire system architectures, reporting them to respective system owners and collaborating with the Technical Lead to recommend effective technical solutions.
  • Develop system design specification documents for all system integrations with the Guidewire Suite of Products and obtain approval from the IT Product Owner.
  • Work alongside DevOps and Technical Support teams to troubleshoot installation and deployment issues across various environments, including DEV, QA, SIT, UAT, and Production.

Knowledge :

  • Over 10 years of experience with Guidewire applications (Policy Center, Billing Center, or Claim Center)
  • A solid understanding of the insurance industry, with the ability to communicate effectively with business analysts and subject matter experts to translate business requirements into system modifications.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Guidewire product suite and the development frameworks/options available.
  • Proficiency in configuration and coding using Guidewire tools and accelerators, Guidewire Batch, and predefined plugins.
  • Experience in database definition and design at the application level, including screen-related changes, wizards, workflows, validation rules, and business rules.
  • Expertise in defining, designing, and configuring company structures, including internal companies, organizational structures, regions, branches, users, roles, permissions, and producer codes.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficient in Java and J2EE
  • Highly skilled in SQL (T-SQL or PL/SQL)
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent analytical and technical capabilities
  • Prior experience with GIT, Jenkins, Rally, or similar applications
  • Other Position Parameters
  • Familiarity with insurance systems and Guidewire capabilities
  • Guidewire certifications
  • Ability to drive projects forward, collaborating daily with business and technical staff
  • A strong commitment to customer service and a desire to deliver high-quality results.

Education

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
