Overview

The gaming industry is constantly evolving, pushing the limits of entertainment as we know it. As technology advances, the expectations for delivering top-tier games continue to escalate. This progression necessitates not only the optimization of game development engines but also the creation of robust infrastructures and workflows that facilitate efficient remote and hybrid development. Addressing these challenges is essential for enabling effective hybrid teams and collaborating with globally distributed development partners during peak development phases. At The Coalition Studio, we are at the forefront of tackling these issues through our work on the renowned Gears of War franchise, driving engine innovation, developing cutting-edge technologies, and providing world-class workflows, tools, and features that are embraced across the broader Xbox Game Studios organization.

As a Senior Builds & Automation Engineer at The Coalition, you will play a vital role within our elite Engine and Game Development team. You should have strong C# programming skills, a solid understanding of C++, and experience with various source control systems such as Perforce and Git, coupled with exceptional problem-solving capabilities. Your diverse skill set and passion for exploring the multifaceted world of game development technologies and tools will be crucial, as will your eagerness for continuous learning and adaptation.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related technical field AND a minimum of 4 years of technical engineering experience in programming languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 1 year of experience with Unreal Engine in the gaming industry.
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience with CI/CD solutions such as TeamCity or Jenkins.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS or Azure.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement high-efficiency automated build pipelines tailored to the needs of large-scale distributed AAA game development projects.
  • Analyze the performance of automated builds across various pipelines and tools.
  • Contribute significantly to the strategic planning, execution, and ongoing maintenance of our build and automation infrastructure.
  • Collaborate closely with Engine Leads, Producers, and development teams from other Xbox Game Studios.
  • Conduct research and investigations into innovative technologies, assessing their potential to enhance and optimize our automated pipelines.
