Position Overview
SNDL is on the lookout for a Senior Financial Analyst to become an integral part of our Accruals & Accounting Reconciliations Team. The selected candidate will play a crucial role within the accounting department, ensuring adherence to IFRS accounting standards and SOX compliance, while enhancing the efficiency, clarity, and integrity of SNDL's accounting operations, entries, and financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities:
In the capacity of Senior Financial Analyst, you will thrive in a dynamic environment, supporting SNDL's comprehensive processes to foster improved accountability, efficiency, and responsiveness. Your success in this role will hinge on a proactive mindset, a desire to learn, a sense of ownership, and a genuine enthusiasm for SNDL.

Core Duties Include:

  • Leading the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial results, which encompasses journal entries, account reconciliations, and account analysis across all business segments.
  • Assisting the Accruals & Accounting Reconciliations team by reviewing working papers and conducting lead sheet analyses.
  • Monitoring operating statement reviews of accounts and subledgers to identify any misclassifications or omissions in expenses, financial entries, and accruals, while proposing corrective actions.
  • Conducting variance analyses through the examination of general ledger accounts and subledgers, reporting findings to management as necessary.
  • Reviewing retail segment reporting via dashboards for Retail Operators and other key stakeholders.
  • Collaborating closely with auditors to fulfill audit requests, providing necessary documentation and timely responses to inquiries.
  • Supporting the maintenance of the corporate general ledger and overseeing new setups, while managing financial system practices to enhance efficiency.
  • Upholding high-quality internal controls, ensuring compliance with SOX requirements.
  • Providing coaching, mentorship, and training to fellow accounting associates within the Accruals & Accounting Reconciliations team.
  • Assisting with special projects, reports, and analyses as needed.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • CPA designation is mandatory.
  • In-depth knowledge of IFRS, with a preference for candidates possessing public practice experience.
  • A minimum of 3-4 years of progressive experience in finance and accounting.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to cultivate meaningful relationships across both in-person and virtual teams.
  • Capability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Proficiency in prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced setting.
  • A keen curiosity to explore information thoroughly and comprehensively.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
  • A criminal record check is required.

Preferred Skills:

  • Advanced Excel skills (including pivot tables, lookup functions, and managing large datasets) and familiarity with the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Experience with data modeling and visualization tools such as Power BI is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems like Microsoft Dynamics 365.
