Senior Integration and Test Engineer

Telesat is a leading global satellite operator providing reliable and secure satellite-delivered communications solutions worldwide. We are seeking a Senior Integration and Test Engineer to develop and maintain system verification and validation plans for our Telesat LEO constellation communication system.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing system and sub-system verification matrices against system requirements, coordinating and participating in system level testing activities, and serving as a SATCOM SME. They will also work with other segments like DevOps, Ground Systems, Satellite, and foster a collaborative and innovative environment.

The ideal candidate will have a B. Sc. in Electrical, Computer or System Engineering and a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in satellite communications. They will have strong exposure to modulation and coding used in modern satellite communication standards, strong understanding of Linux, IP and Routing Protocols, and demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with management, engineering teams and partners/suppliers.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Develop system and sub-system verification matrices against system requirements
  • Coordinate and participate in system level testing activities
  • Serve as a SATCOM SME and support other technical staff as required
  • Develop/maintain test cases, test beds required for various Test cases
  • Hands on testing in the Leo Lab for various data path and routing features
  • Work with other segments like DevOps, Ground Systems, Satellite and foster a collaborative and innovative environment
  • Plays an active role in component and subsystem design and test activities
  • Configuring test equipment like Satellite Link Emulators, signal generator, spectrum analyzer and traffic generators
  • Ensure product under test meets technical, functional, performance and business requirements
  • Work with partners and other vendors in various test campaigns

Education and Experience:

  • B. Sc. in Electrical, Computer or System Engineering and a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in satellite communications
  • Strong exposure to modulation and coding used in modern satellite communication standards
  • Strong understanding of Linux, IP and Routing Protocols
  • Demonstrated understanding of air interfaces, modem technologies, modulation and coding and its impact on the satellite link performance
  • Experience in test case and defect tracking tools (Jira, Jama)
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with management, engineering teams and partners/suppliers
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies
  • Experience working with geographically dispersed teams

Specialized Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Experience with various traffic generators like Ixia, Spirent
  • Highly collaborative team player who can quickly earn the confidence of co-workers and teammates
  • Proficient with MATLAB, Python or C++
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Automation experience with programming languages like Python
