Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a skilled Mental Health Nurse to join our North East Adult Mental Health Team. As a Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN), you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to individuals with severe and persistent mental illness, concurrent disorders, and/or dementia.
Key Responsibilities- Provide individualized direct nursing care and brokerage services to clients with complex needs.
- Conduct physical and psychosocial rehabilitation assessments to develop and implement personalized treatment plans.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to enhance client-centered care and promote recovery.
- Administer prescribed medications, monitor client response, and educate clients and families on medication management and side effects.
- Develop and maintain therapeutic relationships based on respect, empathy, and understanding.
- Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- Diploma in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing.
- Two (2) years' recent related experience working with individuals with severe and persistent psychiatric illness or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Valid BC Driver's license and local area travel may require the use of a vehicle.
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of a client and family-centered recovery model in mental illness.
- Knowledge of concurrent disorders and Psychosocial Rehabilitation methodology.
- Knowledge of the Mental Health Act and community, social, and mental health resources.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
