Interior Health Authority is seeking dedicated Life Skills Workers to join our Mental Health & Substance Use Team.

Key Responsibilities:

Life Skills Workers are essential in the continuum of care. They engage in planning, observing, monitoring, and documenting clients' progress and their interaction with services and support.

These professionals assist clients in daily activities and strive to model and promote appropriate behaviors related to problem-solving and decision-making.

Life Skills Workers provide structured assistance to help clients develop and maintain skills in areas such as:
  • Time management;
  • Financial management, budgeting, and accessing available resources;
  • Organizational and interpersonal communication;
  • Personal hygiene;
  • Management of household tasks;
  • Meal planning, grocery shopping, and cooking;
  • Community engagement.
Working collaboratively within an integrated team, this role aims to deliver structured support services to clients.

They monitor clients in accordance with treatment goals and care plans, observe behaviors and symptoms, and document observations following established protocols or provide verbal updates on changes in clients' conditions.

Life Skills Workers assist clients in cultivating and sustaining life skills, demonstrate and encourage appropriate behaviors, support decision-making and problem-solving, aid in daily activities, engage in skill-building exercises, and collaborate with mental health, substance use professionals, medical staff, and other service providers.


Scheduling Information:

This role involves shifts that may include days, evenings, and nights, with varying hours.

This is a flexible opportunity, meaning there are no guaranteed hours, and the workload may fluctuate weekly. Many successful careers within our organization begin with flexible roles and can evolve into permanent or temporary positions.
