Mental Health Support Specialist

Interior Health Authority is seeking dedicated Life Skills Workers to join our Mental Health & Substance Use Team.

Life Skills Workers are vital in the continuum of care. They engage in planning, observing, monitoring, and documenting clients' progress and their interaction with services and support.
They assist clients with daily activities and aim to model and promote appropriate behaviors associated with problem-solving and decision-making.
Life Skills Workers provide structured assistance to help develop and maintain skills in areas such as:- Time management;
- Financial management, budgeting, accessing funds, and other forms of assistance;
- Organizational and interpersonal communication;
- Personal hygiene;
- Management of household tasks;
- Meal planning, grocery shopping, cooking, and
- Community engagement.
They monitor clients in alignment with treatment goals and care plans, observe behaviors and symptoms, and document observations according to established protocols or provide verbal updates on changes in clients' conditions.
They assist clients in acquiring and sustaining life skills, model and encourage appropriate behaviors, support decision-making and problem-solving, help with daily tasks, engage in skill-building activities, and collaborate with mental health, substance use professionals, medical staff, and other service providers.Scheduling Information:
This role involves shifts during the day, evenings, and nights with varying hours from 07:00 to 18:00, 09:00 to 19:10, and 19:00 to 07:00.
This is a flexible opportunity, meaning there are no guaranteed hours, and the workload may fluctuate weekly. Many successful careers with us begin with flexible roles and progress to permanent or temporary positions.How can you contribute?
