About this Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Accounting Student to join our team at Cenovus. As a key member of our finance team, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in accounting, financial reconciliations, variance analysis, and journal entry preparation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in performing key accounting tasks, including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
  • Support the preparation and consolidation of financial reports and statements.
  • Conduct inventory reconciliations and prepare adjustments as necessary.
  • Research and resolve financial discrepancies, respond to queries, and follow up on outstanding issues.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate balance sheet reconciliations and other financial records.
Requirements
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting processes.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail in financial record-keeping and reporting.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills for collaborating with finance teams and business units.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team, supporting various financial functions and projects.
Qualifications
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada full-time for the duration of your work term and able to produce documentation upon application.
  • Available to begin work in January 2025 or May 2025.
  • Previous experience using SAP would be an asset.
Education
  • Must be enrolled in a business degree focused on Accounting or Commerce at an accredited post-secondary institution at the time of intended work term and returning to full-time studies after the work term.
  • Candidates currently enrolled in either a master's or Ph.D. program at an accredited post-secondary institution may also be considered.
