Accounting Student Opportunity at Inter Pipeline

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Accounting Student to join our inventory and costing team in Calgary. As a key member of our team, you will work closely with our leaders and colleagues to ensure accurate financial reporting and efficient cost management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the costing team to account for cost of sales, inventory, and variances
  • Ensure cost of sales and inventory financial information is accurate and complete, and all month-end processes are completed under established financial reporting deadlines
  • Create and enter journal entries and provide accurate accounting of cost of sales and accruals
  • Perform G/L account reconciliations, including recommendations to address reconciling items
  • Assist in the development of standard costs in our SAP ERP system
  • Assist in the analysis of product costs and variances associated with purchased and manufactured goods
  • Assist in developing more efficient and accurate manufacturing reporting
  • Assist in the accurate accounting of feedstock intercompany transactions and work closely with other business units to ensure elimination of entries
Requirements:
  • Post-secondary student who has completed their 2nd or 3rd year in university or college from a Business, Finance, or Accounting program
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, communication and organizational skills
  • Well-developed interpersonal, team, and customer service communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Intermediate to advanced MS Office Suite computer skills
  • Ability to set and meet deadlines and work independently
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented, growth environment
