About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Recreation Therapist to join our team at Parkstone Enhanced Care in Halifax, Nova Scotia. As a Recreation Therapist, you will play a vital role in developing and implementing a comprehensive therapeutic recreation program that addresses the physical, social, cultural, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual needs of our residents.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan, implement, and evaluate a therapeutic recreation program plan that meets the unique needs of our residents.
  • Conduct assessments and develop individual treatment plans with residents and their substitute decision-makers.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to address recreation therapy referrals and develop behavioral support plans for residents with complex behavioral concerns.
  • Develop and implement therapeutic recreation programs in various settings, including small groups and one-to-one.
  • Modify service delivery to support the changing health status or responsive behaviors of all residents.
  • Participate in the ongoing evaluation of all therapeutic recreation interventions.
Requirements:
  • Undergraduate degree in Therapeutic Recreation or a related field.
  • Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) through the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC).
  • Minimum of one year of combined experience in the delivery of recreation in healthcare.
  • Valid CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Basic Food Safety Training/Food Handlers Course.
