Payroll Coordinator Opportunity

We are seeking a detail-oriented and results-driven Payroll Coordinator to join our award-winning firm in the Vancouver office.

About the Role

As a Payroll Coordinator, you will work collaboratively with our Payroll and Benefits team to process and maintain payroll for all salaried and commission-based employees accurately and on-time. You will also calculate and reconcile month-end commissions using Excel, prepare journal entries and reconcile payroll-related general ledger accounts to ensure accurate reporting, and review and audit monthly payroll reports and participate in annual payroll audits.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process and maintain payroll for all salaried and commission-based employees accurately and on-time
  • Calculate and reconcile month-end commissions using Excel
  • Prepare journal entries and reconcile payroll-related general ledger accounts to ensure accurate reporting
  • Review and audit monthly payroll reports and participate in annual payroll audits
  • Participate in department-initiated continuous improvement projects
  • Prepare and remit payroll-related reports (i.e., leverage payroll data to prepare internal management reports and Statistics Canada reports)
  • Maintain payroll documentation, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and employee records
  • Manage incoming payroll queries and serve as subject-matter expert (SME)
  • Ensure payroll processes and policies are in compliance with applicable British Columbia Employment Standards Act (BC ESA) and Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) regulations
  • Coordinate with People and Culture, Benefits and Finance on payroll information, audits and reconciliations
Requirements
  • Minimum two (2) years' of progressive payroll experience
  • Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification
  • Experience in a complex commission-based environment or at an investment firm is preferred
  • Dayforce HRIS experience is a valuable asset
  • Proficient with Microsoft 365 with advanced Excel skills
